Five Memorable Movie Soundtracks

Often the visuals of a film are what make them recognisable epics that creep up in every “Top 10” list that comes out. With technology developing as fast as it is, new cameras and CGI can sell a film on its own and soundtrack seems to become more overlooked. That’s why I’m going to do a rundown of five memorable film soundtracks.

Film Review: Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse (2018)

Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse is one of my favourite animated films of the last decade and I’m only 20 years old. That’s like half of my life and I’ve seen a lot of animated movies. I’m aware that having grown up on Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy had an influence on my initial desire to see this film. I’m also aware that the legacy behind the characters skewed the viewing experience so that I am more inclined to enjoy the end product. That being said, I did the same for Venom (2018) and I kind of hated that movie so lets get into it.

Film Review: Rocketman (2019)

Rocketman hits every note and is certainly striking a chord on a global scale. Taron Egerton’s portrayal of the talented yet tortured music legend seems to have captivated critics and audiences alike; garnering a high 80’s on Rotten Tomatoes for each! Seeing all the hype, I took a trip to the (surprisingly empty) cinema to check it out. Do I think it holds up?

Seasonal Anime almost killed my love for blogging

I don’t hide the fact that this blog basically went dormant from the end of 2017 to the start of 2019. When I decided to come back, I started by trying to figure out why I fell out of love with it in the first place. Other than the start of my journey into university, there was one major thing that almost kept me from blogging about (or even watching) anime again. Seasonal anime.

Everything we know about Animal Crossing: New Horizons (So Far)

We’ve waited for months and it’s finally here, Animal Crossing: New Horizons is finally here. Well, in another 9 months. But that’s okay! Nintendo know better than to leave fans in the dark so we were treated to 27 minutes of gameplay that reveals so much that it deserved its own article separate to the general Nintendo E3 Rundown.

(Opinion Piece) Five “Cute Girls doing Cute Things” Series Worth Watching

It was inevitable that a dedicated article to the fan-dubbed genre of “Cute Girls Doing Cute Things” would surface on this website. After more than one episode of the Truly Trash Podcast revolving around the concept (my piece on Relaxing Anime subtly trying to weave it in), I am passionate about the Slice of Life genre. That’s all inclusive from emotional series to laid back ones. However, I often find that because these two are sorted into the same category of Slice of Life, the more laidback series are often pushed aside or ridiculed for their inherent structure. With this piece, I’m hoping to blur the bridge that the anime community frequently puts in place and recommend five of my favourite shows where the Cute Girls doing Cute Things formula is used effectively. Oh and I’ll also be trying out some new scoring systems for the sake of these multi-show articles.

(Opinion Piece) Five of my Favourite Relaxing Shows

In what has probably been the most stressful month of my life, I’ve realised how there are certain shows that are perfect for forgetting the world you’re in and completely relaxing. Where some like to read a book by a fireplace on a rainy day, I prefer shutting out all social media and focusing solely on one of these five shows. Whether it be their breathtaking scenery with incredible attention to detail or cleverly crafted atmospheres connecting with the sound design of the scene, these are five great shows for relaxing.
